We’re super excited about this Zhang Shu Hu High Mountain Oolong. We were told it had a sugar cane taste and aroma, but that undersells how actually sweet it is. There’s a term in tea called “回甘”,meaning returning sweetness, that’s used to describe quality teas. But that doesn’t even apply. It starts sweet and never leaves. This tea has beautiful movement in both scent and flavor. From the beginning the hits of sweet apple, middle heavy Philadelphus florality, and ends with sweet sugarcan lingering aftertaste. Different brews of this tea bring out totally different sensations – from throat to chest, to shoulder. However it moves inside your body, this tea shows you what it means to have a whole harmony in all aspects when you drinking a good quality high mountain green oolong.
Like with other High Mountain Oolongs, if you would like more forward sweetness lower the temperature to the 85-90C range and do longer brews. If you’re looking for more movement in the mouth and body, then increase the temperature to 95-100C to taste.
