Sundown Social Club // 06 – Mind Spirit Bodywork-shop

Sundown Social Club is back!

As the autumn sun wanes and the winter months approach, we’re excited to announce the return of our night time tea house pairing tea with amazing music, workshops and events. And we’re starting off with the follow up to one of a kind special experience from last year’s SSC roster – Kaja’s Mind Spirit Bodywork-shop.

We know Kaja as a talented masseuse, teacher, artist (she did the cover art), herbalist, the list goes on. Last year, we witnessed Kaja magically weaving the themes of cathartic release and letting go to make room for building something new – all the while giving the participants tools to better listen to and nurture their bodies.

After an opening tea session led by Yiling, Kaja will be bringing a new theme for this year’s workshop – KATABASIS. Katabasis in mythical text is when the hero of the story goes to the underworld as part of their journey – a metaphor for taking on one’s fears, and growing from within. So if you’re new to massage/bodywork there’s nothing to fear! This workshop is great for beginners and intermediates looking to grow on their journey of self-care.

Working with the body is literally moving things under the skin, in muscle and in mind. Kaja will be focusing on self-massage techniques all while mixing in creative ways to introduce a bit of magic into the massage practice. There will also be massage-adjacent exercises planned, but like last time we think they’re best left as a surprise 🙂

Sundown Social Club is our tea at night alternative safe space pairing unlimited tea with amazing music, workshops, and events. This is also our space for collaborations, as we envision Sundown Social Club taking on a life of its own – musicians, artisans, and practitioners of all walks of life are welcome to take part as participants and host.
