Wagashi Workshop (Advanced) – Cooking Anko

January 28 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

€90,00

We’re so grateful that Yukako Yasuda (Founder of Momotose Wagashi Studio, instructor, and cookbook author) came all the way from Tokyo to host her 1 part tasty 1 part beautiful Wagashi Workshop. This year, Yukako will also be hosting a more in-depth workshop where she will teach how to make anko, the essential sweet bean paste used in traditional Japanese confectionery, using ingredients available in Helsinki. Yukako has modified the traditional recipe to be used with the White beans found in Finland so that you can get the taste of Japan right in your own home.

Yukako will teach how to use mochi rice flour to create ‘Uirou,’ a type of soft rice cake, shaping them into fruit daifuku or forms like birds and flowers. Following an introduction to Japanese Wagashi culture, shee’ll demonstrate the anko-making process. Then, you’ll get hands-on experience crafting four Uirou sweets. Finally, let’s enjoy these treats with Japanese tea. You can take home any leftovers.

Standard Ticket gives you the access to the 3h Wagashi Making workshop. It includes all the materials you will need to make wagashi during the workshop. You will be able to take away the wagashis that you make with you after the workshop. Please note that it does NOT include a Japanese made “Sankaku-bo” triangle wood wagashi making tool to take home with.

This workshop is suited for advanced level. There is a beginner level wagashi making workshop hosted on the same weekend.
