Inspired by our heritage, our tea friendships, and our love for Finnish nature.
In classical Japanese, Nari literally means “To Be”
“Heaven, Earth, Human in Harmony (天地人和)” is the driving philosophy of Nari
For us this manifests in better being with nature, being with others, and being with ourselves
Nari was born from our personal friendships with tea farmers in Taiwan, Japan and China. Inspired by our heritage, our tea friendships, and our love for Finnish nature. Like Okakura Kakuzo once said, “In the true spirit of tea, we bow not to each other or to the tea, but in humble recognition of the unique moment that brought us together, a moment that would never again be”, Nari is our journey to provide you seasonally curated, traceable, single farm specialty tea made by our friends – with full transparency from farm to cup.
As a core tenet of Chinese culture, “Heaven, Earth, Human in Harmony (天地人和)” is the driving philosophy of Nari Tea. This phrase is from Sun Tzu (The Art of War), “If I want to be a human being, I should first learn to stand on the “middle” of the “heaven and earth” and deal with many things in life with a ‘moderate’ attitude. ” For us this manifests in better being with nature, being with others, and being with oneself.
When we think of tea, we think of drinking Pu’er with the family after a long day of playing underneath the red cotton trees. We think of nights at the tea house where both conversation and teapot overfloweth, and there’s not a stranger in sight. We think of the peace we feel when we wake up to the sound of birch leaves in the wind.
And most recently, we think of the people who have inspired us to move to the next chapter of our tea journey. We look forward to bringing the best single origin tea made by our friends to you. But Nari Tea isn’t only a shop, it’s a community. Your early interest means the world to us, and we would love to have you along with us as we grow.
