GOGUMI GO! – Art of Green Tea Blending
Uyo Okabe, our tea producer friend and core member of Nari Japan Fest, is returning for our Nari Japan Fest Summer edition!
As the founder of the Tea Brewers Championship, Uyo has a front seat to the innovate side of Japanese tea brewing.
In this ‘Gogumi‘ workshop, Uyo will be teaching you about the Japanese art of green tea blending through a live tasting and blending experience. In this workshop you will be tasting 4-5 different green teas, and learn how to assess the characteristics of various unblended tea leaves. Alongside tasting the teas, Uyo will teach how to adjust brewing techniques to highlight the desired characteristics of each component tea to get the most out of the final blend.
Uyo will then teach you another form of blending – blending two different brewed tea liquors. Blending tea liquors is a more modern form of blending, that we’ve been seeing more in the competitive brewing scene, where precision is key. He will go over how to isolate the components you want to get the most of your future brews.
