DESCRIPTION:For this holiday season\, we bring back the popular collaboration experience “Tea Rituals” – A personalized Tea Scoop and Cup making workshop with the ever talented Japanese-Brazilian artist Danielle Yukari.This time the intimate workshop will be hosted at Yukari’s studio in Vallila Helsinki (Viipurinkatu 1A\, Helsinki 00510).  \n  \nThe Cha Ze (茶则) or Tea scoop is an incredibly personal tea tool used for weighing\, holding\, analyzing\, and showcasing your favorite teas before brewing. If you’ve been following us for a while you’ll know we’re lovers of Gong Fu Style of brewing\, and if we go back to the roots of Gong Fu in Chao Zhou\, we find that the OG Cha Ze is a simple piece of paper. While it’s purpose hasn’t changed\, it’s form has developed into a vehicle for personal expression and style. \nWe’ve had the idea for a while for a Cha Ze making workshop\, and we were patiently waiting for the right person to work with\, but when we met Danielle Yukari and saw her work we knew we found our match. Yukari\, is a ceramics artist\, researcher and educator\, who has a special ability to imbue her works with a natural joyful liveliness without sacrificing functionality. \nIn this 2\,5 hours workshop\, you will make your own Tea Scoop as well as your own Tea Cup to accompany it. We will begin with a gong fu tea session where you will see the Cha Ze in action\, while also drinking a tea to get the creative juices flowing for the session ahead. \nYukari will then guide you through the following steps to make your very own personalized tea scoop and cup through: \n\ndrawing/making paper pattern\nmaking clay slab. Use of inlay and marble techniques to create patterns and drawings on the clay slab. Use of dark brown and light beige clays\ntracing\, cutting\, shaping the clay slab in a tea scoop shape\npinch pot technique to make teacup with foot\n\nParticipants will be able to choose from 3 different glazes at the end of the class. Pieces made during the workshop will be glazed and fired in the following days and will be ready to pick up from December 10th at Yukari’s studio. This workshop is suitable for all adults with some or no experience in ceramics\, that are interested in tea rituals and their process. No previous experiences required.
